Step 1

Maintain the shine

To regain the lustre/shine to your paddle, remove any surface dust.  Denibbing your paddle is very easy to do at home.  Use ultra-fine 0000 wire wool (*only* as any other grade will scratch the wood) as the picture shows, moving the wire wool in line with the gain in the timber, until the paddles surface has a dull finish.

Step 2

Clean Thoroughly

Thoroughly clean the surface of the paddle, paying attention to areas such as where the handle meets the paddle, any holes and around spikes with a lint free cloth.  (We do give a lint free cloth in our care package when a paddle is purchased from us) this will remove all the fine dust that has been created.

Step 3

Use the good stuff

I personally use Danish Oil, my suggestion is to continue using this type of product, apply a very thin coat over the surface of your paddle using a clean fresh lint free cloth, taking care not to touch any wet areas.

Step 4

Hang to Dry

Hang your paddle (I use coat hanger hooks) in a ventilated area, away from any direct heat or sunlight and leave to dry.  The drying process varies in time I have found, best to leave for approximately 48 hours before touching.
