This is a beautiful Birdseye Maple paddle, thuddy and silky smooth gives a nice warm feeling. Paddles approximate length 30.5cm handle length 13.5cm width 10cm thickness 1.5cm weighs approximately 210g. Hand carved shaped handle inner core Birdseye Maple with Birdseye Maple handle slips.
(My first design, inspired by a lovely young lady I called Miss Snow White, who really wasn’t as white as snow!). A beautiful distinctive pattern that resembles tiny, swirling eyes disrupting the smooth lines of the grain, dense wood that delivers a hard thud and an end tingle of warmth!
This paddle has been treated with at least 3 layers of Danish oil, 1st coat is very heavy. This is to seal the timber and create a barrier its then left to thoroughly dry, while another 2/3 light coats are applied. Before the last coat I rub over with 0000 grade wire wool and apply a very thin coat and it’s left to dry naturally.
